Board-certified pediatric dentists are held to the highest standards in pediatric dental care, having completed specialized training and a voluntary certification process. For Dr. Andrea Aduna, that certification reflects deep expertise and a commitment to the latest advances, which is a solid foundation for your child's lifelong oral health.
The AAPD recommends an initial oral evaluation by Age 1, or within 6 months of the first tooth. Your child's first visit includes a facility tour, a gentle exam with Dr. Andrea, and time to talk through brushing, flossing, and diet. For children under three, that first appointment is complimentary.
Yes, and we plan the visit around the drive. First visits for children under three are complimentary and unhurried: a tour of the office, a gentle exam with Dr. Andrea with you right beside your child, and time for your questions about teething, bottles and brushing. Book a morning slot so your toddler arrives rested, bring a comfort item, and expect to be back in Santa Rosa by lunch. Getting that first visit done by age one is what makes the later ones easy.
Do not start driving first. A knocked-out permanent tooth does best when it is replanted within about 30 minutes, which is less than the drive from Santa Rosa. Pick it up by the crown, never the root, rinse it gently in milk, and place it back in the socket, having your child bite on clean gauze. If that is not possible, keep it in cold milk. Then call (415) 408-5775 for next steps. Baby teeth are never replanted; just stop the bleeding and call us the same day.
Yes on both. Ask for back-to-back appointments and make one trip down from Santa Rosa; most families with more than one child do. The Poppy Membership is per child and covers two exams, two cleanings, two fluoride treatments and preventive x-rays a year, plus 15% off any other treatment, with no yearly maximum. There is a plan for ages 0 to 12 and one for 13 and up, so a middle schooler and a high schooler each get the right one.
Every three to six months, and Dr. Andrea sets the interval for each child. Low-cavity-risk kids from Bennett Valley or Fountaingrove typically come twice a year; a child with a history of cavities or a lot of new adult teeth arriving may need to be seen more often for a while. Between visits we will tell you exactly what to watch for at home so a small problem does not turn into an extra trip.
